Peyton Brown is Miss Alabama USA 2016

Peyton Brown was crowned Miss Alabama USA 2016 at the Montgomery Performing Arts Center on November 7, 2015. She will have the opportunity to compete at the 2016 Miss USA Pageant where she hopes to be crowned by the reigning Miss USA Olivia Jordan from Oklahoma.
Peyton succeeds Miss Alabama USA 2015 – Madison Guthrie who finished as Top 11 at Miss USA 2015. At the same event was crowned a new Miss Alabama Teen USA, Erin Snow.

She is 21 years old and of 5'8" tall from Eufaula. She was former Miss Alabama Teen USA 2012 and made TOP 16 at the national pageant in 2012. Peyton became an active member of the American Cancer Society after losing her father to cancer. She is an avid sports enthusiast and is a member of the basketball, softball and cheerleading teams. She would like to promote girls’ athletics and advocate for the importance of being involved in sports.

Alabama is one of the more successful and (recently) consistent states at the Miss USA Pageant. Even if they have had a number of runners-up, finalists and semi-finalists, Alabama only had one Miss USA. She was Sylvia Hitchcock, Miss USA 1967. In July 1967 Sylvia became the first Miss USA to win the Miss Universe title since Linda Bement in 1960. She passed away in Lake Wales, FL at age 69, Sunday, August 16, 2015, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
