24-year-old Emilia Araújo was crowned Miss Universe Portugal 2015 in a ceremony held at Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra. She succeeded last year’s titleholder Patricia Da Silva. She is from Azores and will now represent Portugal in Miss Universe 2015 that will be held in Las Vegas on 19th December 2015.
Maria Emilia is a medical student and
recently she got her degree in Medicine. She is not new to beauty
pageants and has previously competed in Miss Grand International 2014.
Portugal has placed in Miss Universe only once, since it’s inception.
Laura Goncalves got a Top 10 placement in 2011 edition when the finale
was held in Brazil. Marisa Ferreira was awarded the title of Miss
Congeniality in Miss Universe 1999, which was won by Mpule Kwelagobe from Botswana.
